Saga specialises in private medical insurance, and has been providing an extensive range of policy options and health plans throughout the United Kingdom for more than 20 years. The company excels by focusing on one specific area of health insurance and only offers private health insurance to individuals over the age of 50. With four separate health plans to choose from, Saga are able to give their policyholders flexible and affordable private health insurance solutions for those approaching and exceeding retirement age.
Benefits of Saga Health Insurance
Saga policyholders can enjoy prompt referrals and faster admission times from an extensive list of approved hospitals. As well as enjoying the benefits of expert consultancy from the private health sector, customers are more likely to find private hospital wards or centres closer to home. Treatment can be arranged to fit in with busy work or lifestyle schedules, wards are maintained to a superior level of cleanliness and en suite facilities are provided in quiet, comfortable surroundings.
Private health insurance policyholders can also enjoy a full range of home comforts including satellite television, bedside telephone calls and unrestricted visiting hours so that friends and family can remain nearby once treatment has taken place.
Superior Service Levels
Saga excels in all levels of customer service and this can be particularly useful for their target age group. A survey carried out in September 2010 indicated more than 97% of policyholders rated service levels within the ‘good’ to ‘excellent’ range. Premiums are competitively priced and the same 2010 survey revealed that 85% of all customers saved money on existing private health insurance costs when policies were switched to Saga.
Saga use UK-based telephone call centres and policyholders can talk to representatives directly instead of having to deal with time-consuming automated menus. Private medical cover can be taken out without the need for a medical, and the company currently offers three months of free cover when monthly payments are made by direct debit.
Saga Health Plans
Saga has four different private health insurance options available, all of which include full in-patient and day-patient cover. Benefits are tailored to suit the individual requirements and budgets of all policyholders.
Health Plan Super – Health Plan Super is the Saga flagship policy and includes access to complementary therapies and a home nursing option. Cover for dental injuries are also provided and unlike many other private health insurance deals, Health Plan Super also includes post-operative recovery. The plan currently has no upper age limit.
Health Plan Secure – Health Plan Secure is an intermediate level policy that helps Saga customers avoid extensive NHS waiting times. The plan includes in-patient and day patient treatments, radiotherapy, chemotherapy and a full range of outpatient medical scans. Health Plan secure also provides £1,000 for outpatient treatment and £350 towards post-operative physiotherapy.
Health Plan Saver – Health Plan Saver is the most popular Saga policy and provides all-round private health insurance cover at a more affordable premium. The plan includes £500 of outpatient cover within an eight-month period preceding or following treatment.
Health Plan Support – Health plan Support is the most affordable level of private medical cover on offer from Saga. The plan focuses on treatments but fails to offer any contributions to post-operative costs. Surgical treatment for cancer is included within the terms and conditions of each policy, but radiotherapy and chemotherapy remain subject to NHS treatment.
